Precision farming, often referred to as precision agriculture, is a farming management concept that seeks to maximize agricultural operations via the use of technology in order to achieve greater levels of efficiency, production, and conservation of resources. The purpose of this survey study is to offer an overview of precision farming, including topics such as its fundamentals, methodologies, technology, and applications. It investigates the role that a variety of technologies, including global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and sensor technology, play in making it possible to implement precision agricultural methods. In addition, it addresses the advantages, disadvantages, and potential future applications of precision farming in the context of solving issues related to the sustainability of agriculture and the security of food supplies on a worldwide scale.
